My new Super Hero costume

It's been two months now since I started here and it's not easy playing super hero. There are so many factors which stops us from racing to fire alarms. And you are so eager about rushing and all the adrenaline is there but just can't make it to the fire scene. We have to consider the fire situation, location, OIC available, driver available and the fuel. From the almost three hundred fires that hit the metro since I stated, we've only responded to less than ten. Most of the time we just wave to our fellow firefighters from other groups to wish them safe and shout "ingat" to them as they pass by our headquarters. But on the other hand I am also happy that only three of the almost three hundred hit our area.

My super hero costume

My birthday is drawing near that time and my mom and I were strolling one of the first SMs in the country. And while going rounds and rounds at the toy shop mom noticed me eyeing on the Superman costume. "Gusto mo ng Superman costume?", lumingon lang ako sa kanya. "Sige sa birthday mo....". Inside my head I was actually thinking about the costume, but not the Superman but the Batman that's neatly laid beside it. But kuya already has a Batman costume and kuya Ton has a Robin. So, only Superman is missing from the Super Friends.

And my birthday came, mom arrived from work with box in her hand--its the Superman suit! At that instant my brothers donned their super hero suits and we played endlessly. After a few days I no longer fancy about wearing the suit so instead I play Clark Kent while my kuya plays Superman waiting for me to hide in the cabinet which serves as our telephone booth to transforms as him. Then as years pass I have easily outgrown for super hero role plays. When I reached my fifth grade all I could keep from the suit is the cape. Then quite sooner I no longer see any piece of the suit.

Just before the school year ended I changed my desktop background to a Batman inspired theme. I frequently change my desktop background but this quarter's theme is about the Caped Crusader. I also changed the color theme from purple I shifted to black. Purple is a color of waiting, contemplating and hopeful anticipation and personally I find it as a joyful color. Black, although its not considered a color it goes universal with any combination. I also preferred black for my emergency kit and other firefighting implements. Probably my unconscious mind is thinking a lot about me being like the Caped Crusader and but he's right about it. Now I have my new super hero costume (just wait for the printing of the pictures, I'll post them here as soon as I get them).

Condition Red

A tornado just hit our office today; everything is scattered everywhere, everyone is moving around to salvage a thing or two. The disaster started yesterday as we start sorting our files and today we are finalizing which bulk should stay and which shall turn into a Yellow Cab pizza. We moved our work stations to the far end of the office to give way to the coming construction to give space for the new occupants. The working atmosphere is more focused on the arranging of hard copies and our work tables like mounting of pictures and figurines.

I am now in my third station since I got hired here and this might be just temporary until we start reporting back to Jubilee or as soon as they get things figured out on who’s to stay where. Right now I have a good background sound courtesy of our HR. If I’ll be staying here, I might now longer need the mp3s in my hard disk or I will need a headset to listen to my play list. Right now, we’re half done that I could already log in and surf around. Then in a short while we’ll be on our way home.

In my first work station.

Why a trademark?

OK ba signature pose ko? Tatlo pa lang: isa sa Mt. Pulag, Mt. Manabu at isa sa Gulugod Baboy. Pero sigurado dadami din yan malapit na.I got the idea of having this pose after watching Eight Below. The lead guy always took a team picture before heading for an expedition. So I decided to have the same pose on every climb. Most climbers have their signature pose: by the breaking sun; at the summit; at the jump off; with a hand gesture; or with the same shirt, and to most of them they call it trademark. It goes for almost the same reasons—a sense of self-fulfillment, belongingness, a personalized world, pride.

It's SO-SO

I'm still high from our last week's climb and that kind of high is being kept by the anticipation of this wekend's Firefighters Goodwill Games. It is not yet final if I could join since I am still a "probie". We are now three, Ralph is tha latest recruit and maybe, if we could get two more we could force through the actual training.

Less than three weeks left and I'll be reporting back to Jubilee. There's nothing much to anticipate this school year aside from hoping to get tutees to support my adventurous lifestyle. Right now I am busying myslef with reading blogs of GMA News reporters, studying effects in Fireworks and in MovieMaker and uploading pictures.

Hey, here's a pic I got from my high school buddy Erick. This is from our Mt. Pulag climb last December.

Summer break!

Yahoo! It's summer again, there's not much on my summer itinerary but at least I could have my rest from tutoring and that I could respond to more fire emergencies. Last weekend I engaged myself to a personal retreat as I climb Gulugod Baboy in Mabini/Anilao, Batangas. I thought I could go down with a clearer answer why I am fond of climbing but the trees didn't answer my questions. It was a good climb and I am getting more convince to invest more with my climbing stuff over my VHF set up. Too bad I still have to accept a tutee or two so that I could give in to my never ending want list.
