Fire drill, kasal, water supply at ilang mga paningit...

Yesterday has been a very long day for me. My class starts as early as 7:30 and goes through 2 in the afternoon. Good thing I only prepared moderate activities for the kids and they were able to participate well in the whole group discussion. The last class in the morning starts with a fire drill while the last section in the afternoon ends with it. I could still remeber the fire drill we hasd last year, where one of our students got hurt while they're returning to their class. I made me a little bit excited for it brings to me the high of being in a emergency situation. Unfortunately schools have nurse and doesn't need a super hero like me. Yesterday's fire drill is another story: the afternoon drill is done with the high school students and normally being the only male teacher in the preschool department many eyes are glancing at me but this time their necks are getting longer because they want to see the student behind me. She is G1, a pretty kinder 1 student. Inggit ba? Hehehe ndi naman konti lang... On the other hand, proud that I have cute, pretty and polite students (",). Habang nag kaklase nga pala ako kumatok si Vera, isa ko pang estudyante. Nagulat ako kasi dapat wala na sya sa school kasi uwian na nila. Pawis na pawis na sya, siguro dahil sa katatakbo sa waiting area pero naka ngiti pa din sya sabi nya: "it's my birthday today". Bigla kong naalala, sinabi nya nga pala yun sakin nung nakaraang araw, buti na lang pinaalala nya--nabati ko sya (",) sensya na din hanggang greet lang ako. Issue na yun kung may kasama pa. Naawa din nga ako sa kanya kasi birthday nya late sya sunduin, ano ba yun!

Later in the afternoon, I got reminded of the wedding of Rhoda (a dear friend from high school). I was anticipating about it in my mind but never actually planned about attending it because I have work plus I know I'll be somehow out of place if I make it to the wedding. Pero okay naman. Eto na ang pangatlo kong pinuntahang kasal na suot ang school uniform, bat naman kasi kung magpakasal sila weekdays! Naghahanap na ako ng dahilan ba't kailangan ko nang umuwi pag nagpaalam nang makita ko si Chester ng Epsilon. Kahit papano may naka kwentuhan ako bukod sa dalawa kong dating classmates. Maya maya umuwi na din kami kaya lang narinig ko sa radio na may 1-7 kami kaya nagpa iwan na lang din ako.

Then after a million times of trying to contact my comrads our tanker finally shows up in the far horizon. Instantly my smile flashed and the high is within me again. Kaka inis nga lang yung sumalubong samin na tayo dun sa compound nila Alpha, hindi marunong tumanggap ng bisita. Tama ba naman na bigyan kami ng tubig na kalahati lang ang laman at hindi pa malamig at isa lang na baso eh ang dami dami namin! Kaasar talaga. Buti na lang naka uwi din kami.

I just can't get enough of the videos of the Scouting Movement and the Gawad Kalinga activities. I even got a little bit teary while watching them. It also brought the high in me to stay active in the service and keep on the promise.

One World One Promise

Last Saturday it was made official that I am a once again a student of PLM. I am pursuing an MA in Education major in Educational Administration. Lupet no? Ang tutuo hindi ko talaga alam kung ano meron sa kinukuha ko pero alam ko eto ang mas gusto ko kaysa Biology, plus the dream I have in putting up my own preschool. Meron na nga akong Chemistry teacher na nag aapply para sa preschool ko eh (“,)… Mamaya first day ng klase ko, mag kikita kita na din kami nung iba pang residente at ilang mga alumni na bababa mamaya para sa ilang gawain (mga kapatid ingat kayo).

There is an unseen force and excitement that seems to be pulling me back to the GK community and the SFC. Tonight I will be attending the Lord's Day to see how I could fit back in to the unit and be active once again.
